Our Musical Director:
Kate Street Big Band was excited to welcome Tamara Gibb as our musical director in 2023. Tamara’s musical career started with the piano when she was only seven, moving to the clarinet and bass clarinet at 10 and 11. She went on to study Bachelor of Music at QUT, graduating on the Dean's list. She has many years of experience working as a musical director for both adult and beginner bands, writing charts, and teaching clarinet and saxophone. Tamara loves jazz and theatre, and is very enthusiastic about Kate Street Big Band! “Directing Kate Street Big Band is such an honour. They’re such a great band, full of highly motivated and committed musicians who know how to have fun! They are everything a band should be … studious, sensitive, humble, and well equipped with plenty of trombone antics! Most importantly, they feel like family and play some seriously great jazz!”
